Many students are spending time at camp this summer, but there's one the Tippecanoe School Corporation is hosting that is not your typical summer camp. Technology teachers Blake Hurd and Ricci Barber are hosting a STEM camp at Wea Ridge Middle School, where students are focusing on science, technology, engineering and math.
Nearly 30 students from Wea Ridge Middle School, Wea Ridge Elementary School and Klondike Middle School are spending part of each day exploring computer aided drafting, 3D printing and Lego robotics.
"The WRMS STEM Camp was created to give students an out-of-school educational experience where the pressure of grades are relieved," says Hurd." The goal of the camp is to interest students in STEM careers, primarily engineering. Students will gain a foundation of robotics through Lego education, as well as design through Autodesk Inventor and Lulzbot 3D printers."
