Car Rider Procedures 2023-2024

Morning Drop Off Procedures

When dropping students off in the morning please use the following procedures:

1.  Pull forward as far as possible as you move through the line.

2. Students should exit the car if you are pulled up to the unloading zone (sidewalk).

3. Please have students ready to exit the car on the side closest to the sidewalk before you get to the unloading zone (sidewalk).  Backpacks, coats, and hats should be on when you get to the unloading zone (sidewalk) so students can immediately exit the car.

4. Adults should remain in the car.  If you need to assist your child in exiting the car please stay in the line until you reach the “Buckle Zone” at the front of the line.  (Look for the Buckle Zone Signage)

5. When leaving the car rider line please do not pull around other cars and stay in the line. You may pull around a person that is parked in the “Buckle Zone” at the head of the line. This is a safety measure that should be followed at all times.

Afternoon Pick-up Procedures

When picking up students after school please use the following procedures:

1.  Pull forward as far as possible as you move through the line.

2. If you need to help your child into the car and buckle them in please pull all the way forward into the “Buckle Zone”.

3. Please stay in the car unless you are in the “Buckle Zone”.

4. Do not pass cars in the line unless you are passing the “Buckle Zone”.  This makes a safer environment for students and families.

5. Students should enter the car from the sidewalk and not go around the vehicle to the other side.

*Students are called to the sidewalk by a walkie-talkie.  Students are given a colored dot based on your position in the line to stand on as they wait for you to pick them up.  The supervising teachers will make adjustments to the students’ positions as needed to move the line through faster.  Please continue to pull forward in the line regardless of where your child is standing on the sidewalk.
