The Tippecanoe School Corporation is excited to announce the opening of a third high school—Tippecanoe Online Academy. The TSC is developing the state accredited online high school to meet the growing needs of different types of learners in grades 9-12.
Tippecanoe Online Academy is designed to meet the needs of students living within the TSC who have previously chosen to pursue other online schools in the state, as well as provide a dynamic, comprehensive online learning experience to students who are seeking a flexible, personalized online learning environment.
Unlike other online options around the country, Tippecanoe Online Academy offers classes that are taught by TSC teachers who have earned online teaching certification from Arizona State University.
“Tippecanoe Online Academy is a proactive approach that’s built to meet the growing demand for quality, fully online curricular options at the secondary level,” says TSC Superintendent Dr. Scott Hanback. “Our strong collaboration with ASU Prep Digital will help us develop high quality, interactive, rigorous online course offerings that will raise academic success for the learners enrolled in this new school. Students will earn Indiana’s high school diploma as graduates of TSC’s fully online school.”
“The pandemic really changed what learning options look like for us to reach all students,” says Amy McGrath, Vice President for Educational Outreach and Managing Director, ASU Preparatory Academy. “We are hoping to leverage our ASU teaching consortium and virtual instruction assets to help power the model TSC will put in front of their families.”
In addition to certified TSC teachers, each student enrolled in this tuition free academy will be supported by a learning success coach who will engage and support the student and their families throughout their enrollment.
“While students have the flexibility to attend classes online, they'll still benefit from a strong connection with our local teachers who are dedicated to providing dynamic instruction,” says TSC Director of Technology Innovation Dr. Devin Arms. “We understand the importance of community, so we'll be introducing creative ways for our online students to come together, from virtual clubs to in-person events. We're committed to providing an experience that fosters a sense of belonging and togetherness, ensuring that every student feels supported and connected, no matter where they are.”
The enrollment application for the 2024-25 school year will open in November. To provide students with the best possible educational experience, we anticipate the initial enrollment will be limited to 300 students. We encourage all interested students to apply for acceptance into the academy.
“I am proud of the innovative approach our team is taking to meet the needs of students while maintaining our pursuit of educational excellence,” Hanback says.
