The TSC is taking numerous steps to create enriching, positive learning experiences for students, whether they are learning virtually or in person. At all 19 school buildings, staff members are implementing numerous safety measures to help stop and/or slow the spread of the Coronavirus. Preparations include spreading desks as far apart as possible in the classrooms and installing signage and hand sanitizing stations through the buildings. 

At Mayflower Mill Elementary, Principal Shannon Cauble and Assistant Principal Jill Pinkerton measured the distance between lunch tables, then marked available seats. Most schools will have assigned seating by class in the cafeteria, art rooms and other locations to avoid exposure to others in different classrooms. Café staff prepackages all lunches in containers or bags to minimize the chances of cross-contamination.

With about 80 percent of students registered for in-person instruction, teachers are starting to set up their classrooms with creative seating configurations to allow for social distancing.

“We have missed our students so much during this time apart,” says Cauble. “It's amazing to watch educators think of creative things they can do to connect with students both in the building and virtually. While some things have changed, our determination to engage learners and create excitement is stronger than ever.”
