The Tippecanoe School Corporation welcomed hundreds of new students Tuesday, August 14. It appears enrollment is up throughout the district. In addition, we welcomed 85 teachers who are new to TSC.
While students enjoyed summer break, many TSC employees including custodians, food service, maintenance and others worked through the summer to repair, renovate and prepare our buildings for the new school year. Building additions and renovations will continue for the next few months at East Tipp Middle School to increase classroom capacity and enhance curricular areas, including band and choir. Minor reconstruction upgrades at Mayflower, Mintonye, Dayton and Hershey will help create additional classroom space. Major renovations will begin soon on Battle Ground Middle School and Harrison and McCutcheon High Schools.
The TSC continues to grow its focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education at the elementary level. Some projects will challenge students to problem solve and work collaboratively as they delve into robotics, coding, aerodynamics and more.
"I want to thank all of our employees who worked hard planning and preparing for the return of students," says TSC Superintendent Dr. Scott Hanback. "We are off to a successful start and the year promises to be one filled with exciting opportunities for our students to learn and grow."
